I provide individual therapy to adolescents and adults, relationship therapy to dyads, triads and families (however you would like to define this). I also provide consultation for individuals working toward licensure. I strive to be culturally- and trauma-sensitive in my work with clients, which means that we often work together to unpack how these larger cultural forces, including white supremacy, imperialism, and capitalism, impact our lives. I work well with folks who are looking for insight-oriented, psychodynamically-informed depth therapy, which aims to explore underlying patterns, answering the "whys" of our feelings and actions so that we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and perhaps make choices that serve us better. However, I also invite potential clients who are seeking shorter-term, solution-focused treatment, where we work to together on specific issues and goals. I encourage clients to be creative and courageous in their lives, while feeling safe and supported in taking these risks.

I particularly enjoy working with clients who are in therapy for the first time. While my training and experiences have encompassed various modalities, I firmly believe that the predominant contributor to therapy's effectiveness is the relationship between therapist and client. In therapy, we are often expected to talk about intimate and uncomfortable things - conversations that are predicated on trust and respect. I will approach our sessions with openness, warmth, and curiosity. I will be honest and authentic. I will ask questions. I will never judge. I work from a harm-reduction framework. I will never offer suggestions or assignments that I do not truly believe in. I see our time together as a microcosm of our interactions with the larger world with its complexity of social relationships, and as such, I invite you to feel comfortable and open in discussing your needs and concerns.

I am a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese, and can also read and write Chinese. I often use a mix of English and Chinese with Mandarin-speaking clients and feel comfortable providing therapy in Mandarin. If appropriate, I can also provide psychoeducation and family support for loved ones who are monolingual Mandarin-speaking.
